Default jobs over summer

Last year I just played poker over the summer, but this year I need to work as I've decimated my bankroll with frequent withdrawals, and really need to add some work history anyway.

I don't see what kind of jobs I can really apply for though, who wants to take on a uni student with limited work history who's going to work for about 3 months before leaving?

Are people retarded?

1. If you are going to make this type of post, include where you live, any past work experience, what you are good at, what you will/will not do.

2. Don't post the these threads.

3. Work as a barback, busboy, server in a restaurant. Do landscaping/construction. Get CPR certified and lifeguard a pool. Work at an amusement park or fast food place. Go on craigslist, type in "summer" and start applying. Set up a mother [censored] lemonade stand and grind $1 SNGs at night.

Also, there is a thread like directly below this one entitled "Summer Job". Why did you feel the need to post your own and then not even include details that might make your situation unique? Ugh.

Depends. I have a friend who worked at Six Flags and they literally sat in a chair under shade next to some ride and just had to watch the ride. He just sat there listening to his ipod and reading all day. obviously if you get stuck working in one of the food places or something, then it sucks. just tryin to give examples of jobs that hire for summer only.

typically at amusement parks, for the ride attendent position (which was what i did as a high schooler), you are certified for at least 10 different work stations and they rotate you through those. i dont know how your friend got away with sitting, ipod, and reading. most work stations require you to stand for hours at a time doing repetitious [censored] like seat belt checking or saying the same thing over and over on the mic. most boring and worst job ever. especially since it usually hot as [censored] and most positions don't have shade

op, at this point it'll be hard for you to find a internship or a job. amusement parks have high turnover since the job sucks so much - you can literally walk in and get hired on the spot since kids quit every day. honestly may be your only option unless you have hookups (im assuming no, since youre posting here). also you can try volunteering or working fulltime for nonprofit, i know theres a homeless shelter in my city that pays 10/hr fulltime and they desperately need help.

Do you have any uncles or friends of the family who run landscaping businesses?

I think I would prefer this to an amusement park
