AA played passively, facing river raise, 1/2 FTP
Opponent is a decent ish LAG, playing 25/21/4 and I've seen him play 2/4 recently.
I know a flop bet would be totally standard, but I thought I could induce him to bluff the flop/turn if I checked - it's a very opponent dependent flop check. Furthermore, I think his range here is almost always small pocket pair, so I'm either way ahead/way behind on the flop with no real draws. He didn't bite on the flop or turn, so I decide to bet the river to try to get some value for my hand. To my surprise, I get hit by a meaty raise! Is a call standard here? Re: AA played passively, facing river raise, 1/2 FTP
What do you put MP on after caling that massive PF raise?
Im definately betting this flop and turn On the river - its an easy call. Im thinking about a 3bet here since his hand could easily be a slowplayed overpair on this dry board thinking you are stealing. |

snap call the river, never try this again unless you are 100% sure you know ur man and what you're doing (i.e. you wouldn't need to post this simple of a situation here, you just know)

I really don't see what else a 25/21 limps behind an UTG limper and calls a raise and 3-bet with apart from a smallish pair. |

Re: AA played passively, facing river raise, 1/2 FTP
When you induce bluffs you have to call them. His raise does look sickeningly value-ish but you don't have enough information to fold.

Re: AA played passively, facing river raise, 1/2 FTP
As played you have to call.
You wouldnt be in this spot if you had just bet before though. After pf his range is quite narrow; he'd probably call a 3/4 pot c-bet and then you can try c/r-ing the turn. |

Re: AA played passively, facing river raise, 1/2 FTP
so you're putting him on 88 exactly? he could call your 3/4b with that but it's quite a thin call pf. Surely a flopped set bets before the river.
Only other hand I can really see that beats you is 67s/78s, wch again is a thin call vs a very tight player IP I guess. I don't like cold calling in MP with that hand though. Does he always 3b AK/AQ PF? If yes then you might have to fold - surely PPs that you beat just call the river bet. |
