stupid little hand

Villain is kinda crappy reg. After he called the turn I put him on KJ or AJ and was ready to shove river but then the jack came...I think he would've checked the turn with any lone pair because that is the default msnl crappy reg play. Obviously my hand looks a lot like a draw to a decent player, but I don't think villain is good enough at hand reading and wouldn't be able to rule out a lot of made hands. I also am pretty sure I should've made it about 350 instead of 300 It's actually very possible I would check this flop with QT, I guess...meh, criticize away. EDIT: Do any of you just fold preflop? I've been tightening up a TON preflop and it's really helping the swings to flatten out. |

Re: stupid little hand
Fold preflop...I don't think this is the turn to raise...I usually call...you would hate if he comes back over the top on the turn. Due to your description of villain I check the river because I doubt he folds two pair.

Re: stupid little hand
wtf are you doing raising the turn if you don't think he has a one-pair hand here?

Re: stupid little hand
i think his hand looks a lot like a flush draw or pair+flush draw on the turn. unfortunately if the pair card was a J he's not folding and if it was an A then he now has AAJJK, which i'm not sure if he's folding if you think he's bad, especially since your hand could pretty easily be a missed draw.
if you think he'll fold Ax then i think shoving is good. otherwise, there is 800 in the stacks and 700 in the pot. what about a bet of 250? it doesn't have to work very often at all and we're going to fold out all of the no-pair flush draws and also might fold out Kx. he could read us as having an A/J and trying to milk a little more value from Kx or Ax. i don't think it's going to induce a bluff c/r very often. meta-wise it also lets provides balance to our little vbets for later. |

Re: stupid little hand
Geezer is THE worst regular in the 5-10 game - by FAR. He is a giant calling station, and that is the problem w/ your turn raise - it has no fold equity. Against some guys you can't "get creative," and you need a real hand - he is one of those guys. I fold turn. As played, check river. He loves to look people up w/ marginal hands.
Here is a great example (what is he calling w/ on the flop??????) Full Tilt Poker - No Limit Hold'em Cash Game - $5/$10 Blinds - 4 Players - (LegoPoker HH Converter) SB: $1,195.05 Hero (BB): $1,010.00 UTG: $995.00 BTN: $405.30 Preflop: Hero is dealt J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (4 Players) Hero raises to $30.00, UTG calls $30.00, 2 folds Flop: ($70) 7[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 6[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 Players) Hero bets $50.00, UTG calls $50.00 Turn: ($170) T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 Players) Hero bets $135.00, UTG calls $135.00 River: ($440) 6[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 Players) Hero bets $350.00, UTG calls $350.00 Pot Size: $1,140.00 ($2 Rake) UTG had T[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (two pair, Tens and Sixes) and LOST (-$565.00) Hero had J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (a full house, Jacks full of Sixes) and WON (+$573.00) |
