Vegas - Did I miss this?
So I was in LV for the past three days, and for the first time in a while I actually did a few things other than play 16 hour poker sessions(mistake #1 obv).
So I walked the strip with the group I was with, and went to see some of the casinos I normally don't frequent. In the process of all the walking, I was probably asked if I wanted to buy show tickets...maybe...100 times in 3 days. When did this begin? Has it always been this bad? Do these people really make money? I just don't get it. It kind of ruined my trip into several different casinos. I didn't see a single person anywhere buying anything from any of these people. When did this all begin so prevalent? EDIT: The one funny thing about all of the sales people, was that they ALL tried to talk to you the same way... "how long you in town for?" "Where are you from?" were the only two questions I was asked. So do all of these people work for the same company? |

Re: Vegas - Did I miss this?
It's been this way for at least 3-4 years, to my recollection. Annoying people in cheap uniforms at kiosks inbetween nearly every casino, trying to get you to eventually try and go and hear a sales pitch for a condo or timeshare. I just don't make eye contact, or ignore them entirely.

Re: Vegas - Did I miss this?
Actually I have never seen anyone trying to sell show tickets like this.
However the timeshare sellers are usually offering show tickets as an incentive to hear the sales pitch. They generally leave single men alone and focus on couples, but the last time I went into the rio alone they did approach me so they may be changing their tactics. I don't know why they bother you, just walk past them and ignore them. |

honestly my favorite part of vegas is the mexicans handing out porn by slapping them. Is there anything better ? God we laugh at that.

I took a card and flew into a "rage" and said "This is my sister. I've been searching for her for four years. Where is she?" They just laughed. I tried... But a really funny story about Stripper Trading Cards (people do collect them...) was when my son, brother and I had a contest to see who could pass of a card to another tourist first. I saw an elderly couple walking towards me and said "Discount bingo tonight" and handed the old guy a card. We (and everyone else in the area) had a good laugh. [/ QUOTE ] I know someone who does IT for one of the Vegas timeshare companies and he's seen the payroll. Those nice people in the suits asking every couple that passes by "How ya doin'? Gonna be in town tomorrow night?" can make some incredo-bling. But it's like car salesmen; the worst of them last a few days and figure out they suck at it (or their boss figures out they suck at it) and they never make anything. But the very best of them can apparently hit $1million/yr. If you want a "free" dinner and show it'll just cost you a few hours of your day. But realize these folks are VERY VERY good at what they do and if you have a weak will those free tickets could end up costing you a whole lot if you cave in to the sales pitch. |

"Sir, you'll have to give me a lot more to sit through a time-share presentation at Tahiti Village."

Re: Vegas - Did I miss this?
Just ask yourself "is this too good to be true?" If the answer is yes, then it IS too good to be true. I wouldn't trust any of them. There are lots of people looking for suckers in vegas, and unfortunately there are plenty of suckers keeping them going. Although you may actually get something real from some of them, I wouldn't trust any of them. There's one sure place to get show tickets - the box office.
