Camtasia was fast and free and easy for me. I didn't edit though, just produced.

After you capture it Windows Movie Make is a very easy to use free video editor:

Been messing with the various options of late for the "SSNL study groups".

I found CamStudio very good, even on my aging single core system. An it is Free

Quality and file size also very good using the (also Free) Camstudio lossless codec you can download from the same page.

Virtualdub is good for editing most any AVI file.

I recorded a video with camstudio but the audio is very far ahead of the video. Any suggestions?

Not sure how to fix that in camstudio but most video editing programs let you split the audio from the video and slide its sync.

Fix the a/v sync with virtualdub, or another video editor.

For future reference, in camstudio do "Options -> Audio Options -> Audio and Video Synchronization" - there is a slider to adjust to prevent this happenning in future vids.

I tried adjusting that, but getting it right seems like a random shot in the dark.

Two options:

Fix with virtualdub or something else, not the ms you have to correct the audio by - use this value to offset recording.

or,

shot in dark method: record something like a single Party table with all the sound effects turned on - a single hand of video should give a good idea by how much the sound is to early/late - adjust the value, try again. Maybe require 10 recordings? before decent sync is established.

I'd probably just live with the delay and fix it post-recording, since this affords you the opportunity to re-code the audio in a more efficient format for smaller downloads anyway
