Default new to the money side......

I have been playing hold'em for about 5 years now. I play online and in home games. I am now trying to get more serious about playing at the casino (Foxwoods). I am doing well, but after reading a few books, I'm pretty sure it's all luck.(well mostly anyway) My question is this. What can I do to improve my skills with out having to find my week spots at the casino. The people I play with in my home games are not skilled at all so it's not great practice. Anyway this is my first post and I'm not sure if this is posted in the wrong forum but any and all help would be greatly appreciated. Also if there is anyone in the CT area that is up for playing sometime that would be great too. Thanks.
-John

try playing online, put on 50 or 100 bucks and play a small limit like .1/.2 and see if you can hold your own. if you can beat those games you can beat foxwoods 4/8.

I found Poker Academy to play very much like my 3/6 live games. I think it might play better. This reminds me to ask if anyone has a bot that is super loose aggressive. I can't seem to configure one to play as bad as some of the players where I play. I would like to simulate an insane game where people 3 bet and cap preflop every 5-10 hands.

Sorry for the hijack.

Online play money tables.

OP: depositing $20 or so online & giving the penny blinds tables a shot sounds like a great way to practice against loose/terrible opponents. And of course read & participate in the threads on here (and in the micros forum).

micros .05/.10-.10/.20 should play just like a 3/6 or 4/8 game

30-60 online and you should be fine

what do you mean 30-60 online and you should be fine? playing a 30-60 game or 30-60 minutes or what? Sorry I just got a little confused. Thanks alot for the posts tho. I have been playing online and am doing ok. I have won a few cheap sit and go's as well. So I think I'm going to try the casino 3-6 or 4-8. Thanks alot!

I'm pretty sure he meant a deposit of 30-60 dollars.

That's what I would suggest too. Put $60 into a site that offers .1/.2 tables and go to town. I wouldn't move to any higher limit than that until you have at least 300 big bets.

Buy and read Small Stakes Hold'em several times and post a lot here. Rinse and repeat for a couple of years. Thinking it's all luck means you're far below Step One.

I think he meant that his "doing pretty well" is all luck.

I remember the first time I played 3/6 in a casino about 4 years ago...
I won about 400 bucks.

And within a few months I realized I got reallllly lucky haha. I still remember now how I missed out on a crucial value bet to my turned boat... I just didn't know anybetter then!
