Background: I am from Pittsburgh originally therefore, I am naturally a Pirates, Steelers, and Penguins fan. I've grown up watching MLB, NFL, and NHL. I also always have been a big college basketball fan. Since, moving to Columbus to further my education, I have been inundated with Cleveland Cavalier fans, and have tried to watch their games on a few occasions. I just can't. They seem incredibly boring to me. It seems other NBA games are this way too. I fall asleep during all of them and I rarely do this while watching anything else on TV. I just don't understand how watching a game where it seems everyone is walking up the court, no defense, and needing to take 4 steps in order for traveling to be called can be interesting. Is this because I didn't grow up around it and have no rooting interest? Or do other people feel the same way? I don't know how anyone can watch the first 45 minutes of a game. No matter what it seems the game is always within 5-6 points one way or another with 3 minutes left.
Anyone agree with me? |

I'm a much bigger college basketball fan than I am of the NBA. Still, I find myself tuning into a lot of the playoff games. It's definitely not as boring as watching MLB on TV!

It's because you don't like basketball.

i used to watch a ton of basketball but i just don't care about the NBA right now. i think it has a lot to do with having no real emotional or rooting interest in any team, being generally unimpressed with the attitudes and the style of play, and with being a huge college b-ball fan.

Always loved college hoops.
Could never get into NBA. Grew up outside of Cincinnati so simply no NBA presence there. Would actually try to get into the NBA but just couldn't. Have since moved to Memphis where their only major-league team is in the NBA and have been able to get more interested in it somewhat and go to a few games each year. But I still find myself preferring the college game. |

The NBA has a 24 second shot clock, college has a 35 second shot clock. You're 100% incorrect that its a slower game.
You're also totally wrong about defense. NBA defensive is very very good. I marvel at how quick their rotations are. Watch a college game and count the number of absolutely open looks, then do the same with the NBA(note: don't count the times when the defense is allowing a guy like Eric Snow or Jaques Vaughn to shoot). Consider this: Allen Iverson is a poor defender in teh NBA. In college, playing in one of he best coferences, he was 2 time conference defensive player of the year. |

I actually feel the same about baseball. I grew up a fan and have honestly given it as much of a shot as I can. Furhtermore, I understand the nuances of the game too....its just so boring to me and I have no desire to watch it.

I get so into sports that I really can't watch the NBA, because there's simply too much to get pissed about.
