Default NL25 - AA Facing Donkbet on Flop

Villain was 21/4/2.8 after 262 hands.

BB ($24.30)
UTG ($46)

Preflop: Hero is MP2 with A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img].
2 folds, MP1 calls $0.25, Hero raises to $1.25, 4 folds, MP1 calls $1.

Flop: ($2.85) 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 3[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players)
MP1 bets $1.75, Hero?

One of my leaks is that I play waaay too passively when I am running badly and start just calling bets like these just knowing that they flopped a set.

Is the standard play here to raise this up and find out? If so, how do we play if they call my raise and lead strongly on the turn?

The more I look at this the more it just seems like villain has a good but not great hand. Probably AJ or KJ. At this level, it's rare anyone ever bets out a set. They either check/raise flop or check raise turn (more often).

Standard play?

Hey King, thanks for the response. Obv. don't mean literally knowing (unfortunately I can't read souls yet), just mean that I tend to see monsters when I'm running like dog crap.

My image is solid. I hadn't done anything to get out of line in the short time I was at the table.

So anyway, I pretty much take the worst line possible I guess and here's how it plays out. Thoughts on the river?

Well,,,,, you NEVER told him you had an overpair. In fact, I think you told him you were a tad loose with a flop call holding AK and that the odds justified a turn call.

I think I call the river most of the time and am ahead of his RANGE. Actually WELL in front of his RANGE. If he's got a nine, well too bad. More likely (if we are beat) is that he flopped a set.... he didn't maximize (I'm happy).

Really appreciate the replies King. I did call and he had the boat, 3's over 9's. So it looks like basically my best plan of action was:

-- I raise his flop bet to $5.50-$6.50. Seeing as how I don't have him pegged squarely as a maniac I would fold to his repush. If he calls my raise and leads strongly on the turn I could fold. If he checked the turn, I could check behind and call any reasonable river bet.

Out of curiosity, what do you think of his turn bet as played? If he pots it in that situation am I still calling down? If so, I'm pretty much in for stackage on the river right?

Just reload. I sometimes play 35/10 and 93 would never be in my range in early position. I like the way you played it, you are wa/wb, if you push him on the flop or turn he only calls when he has your overpair beat. Too bad you did not suck out on the river.
