Default Beat: Dental Quote

Keep in mind, I'm 26 years old:

-1 cavity in front: ~$200

-Splint appliance and adjustments to use for 8 weeks. I believe the
splint will be adjusted and my teeth contours will be shaped: $2,400

-8 back teeth worn flat need to be crowned: $8,000

-2 front teeth with root canals (knocked loose in my bike accident) need
to be crowned: $2,000

-"invisiline" braces after crowning to straighten teeth: $4,400

He's throwing in a whitening for free.
Total: ~$17k

Mexico, here I come!

I'm going to talk to more dentists, but I'm thinking of just getting the back 8 crowned in Mexico in gold due to gold:

-lasting longer than porcelain
-being better for my gums
-not as much of my real teeth need to be carved off
-the teeth are in the back

That's the thing, my teeth don't look great, but they aren't crazy gross either. The bulk of my problem is really that my back teeth are worn flat. It makes my teeth hurt if I eat sweet things or cold things, etc.

my teeth have always sucked

multiple cavities through childhood

teeth pulled out due to literaly rotting out

3 1/2 years of braces, which caused...

4 separate 3 hour surgerys to put multiple vaneers and a coupe root canals within a month, fixing teeth that were falling apart

2 crowns at later times (most recently a few weeks ago)

brag: insurance paid nearly all of it
variance: i DO brush my teeth daily

Even if I had a job at a good company, I can't find an insurance plan that has more than a $2k yearly maximum. Do you know of a better one?

I'm surprised you got the vaneers, since that is usually cosmetic, and insurance won't cover it.

I also brush and floss daily. A smart dentist told me that if you had to choose one, flossing is more important than brushing.

Rhett,

You really ought to find a good cosmetic dentist and get 8 veneers on top, and 8 on bottom. That will save you the trouble of the invisiline braces and the 2 front crowns. This will probably cost you somewhere in the neighborhood of 10K.

The problem with you getting crowns/root canals for your 2 front teeth is that in time they will never be the same color as your other teeth. For example, if you get that done and then get the "free" whitening, your real teeth may get whiter, making the crowns look really yellow or dark. The veneers offer instant straight and well shaped teeth, along with a color that suits your smile. You'll definitely be much more confident with the veneers. Cosmetic dentists do such a good job these days that the veneers look completely life like and undetectable.

If you find a cosmetic dentist to do this for you, try to work a deal to get those back teeth fixed. I'm sure you can do much much better thant 17K total.

Good Luck!
