25NL J9 trips 3 handed
PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.25 BB (6 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums)
CO ($36.45) Button ($40.95) SB ($7.75) Hero ($25) UTG ($25) MP ($32) Preflop: Hero is BB with J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. 1 fold, MP calls $0.25, CO calls $0.25, 1 fold, SB completes, Hero checks. Turn: ($6.25) J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (3 players) SB bets $3, Hero raises to $9.75 How's this hand? SB = unknown, CO = 67/7/0.6 - I did not like SB's flop check-mini-raise since that could very well be a hand that I am drawing 3 or less outs against (set, better J). Then again, odds were just so good that I could not fold. Should I? |

Re: 25NL J9 trips 3 handed
I'd fold to the check/minraise on the flop. When I lead out with top pair/no kicker, I do so with the intention of folding if I encounter resistance. Villain is showing a lot of strength, and unless he's completely idiotic you have at best three outs to improve, so what looks like good pot odds is in fact a sucker bet. If you had as little as a pair + gutshot, I'd probably peel one off, but all you have is a weak top pair.

Re: 25NL J9 trips 3 handed
fold to raise on flop - its really easy to overvalue hands in unraised pots. its used to be one of m biggest leaks so now i play squeaky tight in unraised pots.
