If this is for value, then this is fine. Make sure you have a strong read on your opponent though.

What makes you think there is value here? We have no idea what our opponents calling range.
We are raising because we feel we are ahead and think a stand needs to be made. I don't hate this play. |

First off If your looking to resqueeze then raise smaller like
$2.25 then when he sqeezes it'll be for something like 9-12 bucks. The point is you need appropriate stack depth to resqueeze but not be commited to call a push. I think a better line is to call and C/R the flop. Question are going to call a push (I fold btw)? |

[/ QUOTE ] NO and no. 4-bet/folding 100BB deep is really pretty bad, especially with a hand as good as AQ. You can only make this fold if you "4-bet small," which OP didn't do. Folding to a shove now would be criminal. |

[/ QUOTE ] We're raising for protection because we think we are ahead. This player probably isn't calling us with a wide enough range that we are ahead of to make it "value". |

AQ being ahead of his squeezing range doesn't mean that the 4-bet is for value. It just means that he's going to fold a lot. I think I have about 25% equity against his shoving range (QQ+/AK).
I'm mainly interrested in knowing if this type of move is ok occasionally (I'm folding AQo most of the time here), if AQo is a good hand to do it compared to something like 87s, and if 4-betting is better or worse than just shoving. |

if AQo is a good hand to do it compared to something like 87s [/ QUOTE ] Well AQ reduces the combinations of AK/AA/QQ that he can have, and if villain calls it is a decent hand and will flop TP or better a decent % of the time. |

you don't need to shove, raising to 48 looks stronger here than a shove, we are obviously needing to call a push tho with how committed we are, this play must be player dependent so if u have a strong read i like it.
