Default Is NASCAR really that hard?

This topic came up for discussion last night before heading out to the bar. I basically told my group of friends that I don't think driving in NASCAR looks very difficult. No one came up with any responses that made me change my mind. I have been to one race a few years back. It was a fun all day party, but I didn't and still don't understand a "driver's gameplan" besides going fast and trying to pass people.

What makes NASCAR difficult? Endurance? Strategy?

Someone enlighten me because I still think I could be a pretty damn good driver.

With that said...how would an "Average Joe" do in NASCAR?

I've always thought about how there are probably a ton of people out there who could be a great racer, but won't ever know it because they never try.

cata1yst,

I can't stand NASCAR and don't understand the appeal at all but your post is flat-out ignorant. Let me ask you this, if it was so easy why is it the same handful of guys competing for the overall pt leader every year? Why don't more do it?

Forget the strategy and years of practice, what some people don't realize is how much physical endurance it takes to drive. These drivers are in excellent shape.

Result: You would suck.

tdarko,

I don't enjoy NASCAR that much either hence the question. Thanks for the response. I was basically thinking that the endurance would be impossible.

Yes, I probably would suck bad. It would be cool to do a couple laps though.
