im pretty lost.
villain doesnt 3bet too often, but previously he's 4bet me oop pre with KK. he hasn't been out of line, kind of nitty actually, and not too aggressive postflop. I've never played deep with him so im not sure of his 3betting range with stacks like this. I dont think i've 4bet him ever, and if i have it wasnt in this session. comments on all streets are appreciated. is 4betting pre better than cold calling? Just calling the reraise pf is fine if you never 4-bet. That said you have got to raise the flop. As played I'd probably shove the river because he'll have JJ/AK more than he'll have AQ if he doesn't 3-bet light. I could also have AA that went for turn c/r or got scared. I mean there's no way he puts you on KK when you check the turn.

Push river. Not even close. PF is also mehhhhhhh. Normally this deep I default 4bet, but then again my 4 betting range consists of more than AA/KK. But river is a super easy push. If he has AQ sorry bout ur luck.

Sorry just moving up so this may be a dumb question, but why don't we bet the turn after he checks?

i think you'd should raise river, there's value to be had from worse hands .

If he is a nit this is ok. But not raising this river is criminal! You have top set.
Calling flop is fine, I would bet the turn though. |

1. i didnt bet turn because if he CRAI what do i do?
2. I know i have top set, but what really confused me was his big cbet on the flop, i wasnt sure what to make of it so i figured he was drawing, and if he was drawing some things just got there. this was my thinking at least. is any of that valid? like i said, im really lost. turned out he had AQ, but thats insignificant |

if you're gonna just call pre-flop, you need to raise this flop. usually, our reason for calling instead of 4-betting pre-flop, is so we can get a continuation bet out of our opponent instead of just taking it down pre-flop and getting no value from our big pair. if you called pre-flop with the intention of doing something other than raising the flop, please explain your reasoning? turn is debatable. as played, checking isn't so bad because his check sort of narrows down his range if he's playing ABC. now you need to shove the river. tough luck if he has AQ, but AK is very likely here as well. |
