Default Tipping on a High-Hand Jackpot?

A few weeks ago I was at the Flamingo (2/4 limit) and I hit quad As for an extra $160 on the high hand jackpot. The pot must've been about $35.

What is standard tipping here? For Dealer? For Floor personnel? I ended up givng $5 to the dealer only. (The Floor guys were gone before I could get all my chips organized)

Standard for the dealer. For $160, forget the floor...IMO. If this was a BBJ for big bucks, then maybe include the floor for a piece of the action.

My usual is 10%, or round up to a nice figure; here, I'd give a $20.

You SHOULD give the dealer something extra. While the deck is being counted and paperwork done and whatever else, they're sitting there not earning tokes on the hands they're not dealing. $5 is fine--you can sleep well, you done yer duty.

As for more, that just opens up the whole "you're a cheap SOB" vs "it's just business" arguments. If you WANT to give 10%, that's fine. But few sane players will argue you SHOULD give 10%.

My own aim is about 5% to the dealer and $5 or $10 to the floor. Some jiggering based on jackpot size is required. For $40, dealer gets $5 and floor probably gets 0. And were I ever to score a huge BBJ (hasn't happened yet), I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be 5% generous on a $50K prize.

Why not? 5% is 5%. If you're willing to tip 5%, then the money amount shouldn't matter.

I for one do not see why if it's one person's opinion on what they'd do as to why it'd be wrong.
To the OP, tip whatever you want and when you want. No need to listen to the inevitable flame war that will begin with the "please tip" and "don't tip/tip too much" crowd on here.

No, I don't. Please explain. Jackpots are gimmicks to bring the fish. You've already benefited just by playing in the room.

Nope, not gonna play that game. OP asked a reasonable sorta question that hadn't really gotten much of an answer, and the previous answers were kinda conflicting. I (perhaps foolishly) fell into the trap and decided to toss in my opinion.

I told ya why I think you should tip SOMETHING. I told ya what *I* do, and what I expect I wouldn't do if I hit a $50K sorta jackpot; I wouldn't hand a dealer $2500 for dealing a single hand--honestly I might well spread $2500 among all the dealers working the room since I've done such share-the-wealth things before--but it ain't goin' to one guy or gal. And I told ya you're all free to tip more or less. You may now agree or disagree, that's fine. No need for justifications, no need for still again yet another toking war.
