Default Post your usual game...

I usually play what is called "The Ziggy Game" At least that's what it's called in my circle, could be different for some.

Here is how it works...

You need a foursome, split up in teams of two.

Each hole has a certain amount of points up for grabs.

1 pt for low score. (this is individual..if there is a tie no point is awarded to either team)

1 pt for low total putts combined between teammates.

1 pt for closest to the pin in regulation (not just par 3's)

2 pts for low total team score on each hole

1 pt extra awarded for a birdie.

There are no carry overs.

If you sweep all of the above, it's called a "Ziggy", which is worth 12 pts.

Set the value of pts prior to start of the round, and adjust as you see fit. We usually start at .25 cents per point.

It's a great game because even if you're having a bad round, you still need to focus on something, each and every hole.

Even if you're just trying to 1 putt for triple bogey, it could still be important to block the other team from getting a Ziggy.

You can really make some big comebacks if you get hot and pull a few Ziggys towards the end of the round.

If something is unclear, let me know.

Feel free to post your own game that isn't too well known.

$1 skins w/carry overs, and must verify. On top of that $5 naussa- press when your mad. Not much but if you play bad it's possible to lose 20-25 bucks.

Your foursome must be pretty talented from top to bottom if you guys have to verify...

Can someone explain 'verify' in the golf context? Thanks.

I think it's make par or better on the next hole.

5-man "wheel" 6/6/6

Balls in the air every six holes. Two on the wheel (AB) have three matches against other three (CDE).

AB v CD
AB v CE
AB v DE

Six-hole, better-ball match. Two-down automatic presses. Optional one-down press on the last hole of the match. The 2nd ball is a tiebreaker on the last hole (6, 12, & 18).

Pros: Every hole counts. There are 3 "finishing" holes, usually with lots at stake. You can play horrible for most of the day but come up big on a couple of those and turn your whole day around. Or vice versa. You get to play with different partners throughout the round.

Cons: A fivesome playing this game is not fast. You can get hurt. We play $10 a unit and you can lose $100 pretty easily.

acutally tie or better on the next hole. If you get beat by one person, they get the skins. If 2 beat you then they go back to being carry overs.

There is about 10 people that usually play, sometimes only 3 or 4 at a time. Handicaps range between +2 and 4. I play with other golf professionals, and a few guys from the Gateway Tour.

Honest John

Good game for large groups (multiple foursomes)and wide handicap groups

Everyone declares the score they will shoot for the day (knowing that they will get automatic pars on 2 holes each nine)

Everyone plays the round, when complete..... have the bartender, waitress, whatever pick two random holes from the front and two random holes from the back nine. Alter scorecard to give everyone pars on those four holes. (if you blowup for an 8 or 9, you may end up with par...birdies can become pars)

5 bucks a person, two dollars a stroke for every stroke under declared score (under declared score cannot win money)
5 bucks a person, one dollar for every stroke over (over declared score can win money)
pay out spots depending on size of group (one spot per 4some is about right)75-25, 60-25-15, 50-25-15-10
Hit declared score on the number...win it all.

olympic

Putting game

Once everyone has reached green, the longest putt is worth 4 points, second longest 3, third longest 2, and the shortest is worth 1 point. Chip ins are worth 5 points.

You must one putt to get the points. Points can be earned by all players on every hole (if everyone one putts, the longest gets his four, the second longest gets his 3, etc)

tally the points throughout the round and pay out at the end (we usually play a buck a point, but this is usually not the only wager on the round)
