Car audio wiring question
My front right speaker is working fine but my other three are producing no sound at all. I've switched them with other speakers and still nothing so the speakers aren't blown. What could be the reason for something like this? Small wiring problem that can be fixed or the end of my sound system??

Re: Car audio wiring question
If I read your post correctly, you've switched speakers around and they only produce sound in the front right location?
If this is the case it could simply just be a bad connection at your deck. Also, I really hope this doesn't need to be said, but make sure your fader and balance are in the middle. |

Re: Car audio wiring question
Fader and balance were checked. I isolated each speaker and i only heard sound out of the front right. I would take my head unit out and check the connection but I don't know how to do it without breaking anything.

Re: Car audio wiring question
I've never actually taken one apart myself but you should be able to find something from the manufacturer on how to do this.
Also, did this just randomly happen? That seems really weird that 3 of your 4 speakers just stopped working. |

Re: Car audio wiring question
Yea just out of nowhere. At first I thought it was just the left side speakers and maybe the wire that goes to that side of the car came loose or something. Then I isolated the back right and that one was dead too.

Re: Car audio wiring question
Huh, well without knowing exactly how it's wired, I'm not too sure what the problem would be here.
It would be a little easier to figure out if was just left or right or front or back. Being that its all but one confuses me. I'd start with the wires connected to your deck tho. Find out how to do it and check that out. If that doesn't fix it your deck could be dead or some wires somehow cut/disconnected. Sounds like a weird problem to just happen out of nowhere. Sorry I can't be any help. |

Re: Car audio wiring question
Is it the OEM stereo or an upgraded unit? This is very odd. If it is the original head unit I'd be inclined to think that the problem is in the unit itself. If its an upgraded unit its probably a problem with the wiring from the head unit to the speaker wires.

Re: Car audio wiring question
There's probably about 5 or so screws around your dashboard/console/steering wheel that need to be removed for you to get access at your stereo. And for some reason the plastic never goes in as easily as it comes out.

Re: Car audio wiring question
I install for a living. What kind of car do you have. If it's a dodge/jeep/chrysler with the factory infinity system then most likely its a bad factory amp. However it could be a bad head unit but usually when you have a bad amp inside the head unit usually all the speakers go. Need to know what kind of car(year make model and factory or aftermarket radio.
