not representing anything, he called the turn, I expect to get looked up here. pretty standard bluff inducing line from him

Re: Float, 1 barrel, 2 barrel...Blind Wars
maybe i'm the only one but i kinda like this line. i definitely dont fold preflop and i think flop and turn are standard against a guy as described in the OP. the only question is the river bet, IMO, and I think you'll get a fold often enough to make it +EV. I think the ace is a bad card, though, and might make me check it. It's too good a card for you to bluff at and he might have hit the NFD on the turn and decided to c/c, c/c. But even with this card, I think it's a good bet. I'd rather see a K, though. But beggars can't be choosers.
For people saying this is bad, think about posting the hand from villains POV with, say JJ or J9. You're telling me everyone would say 'snap call river'? No way. |

I don't like the first 3 streets, but once you get to the river I think this is a good spot to follow through.

[ QUOTE ] not representing anything, he called the turn, I expect to get looked up here. pretty standard bluff inducing line from him [/ QUOTE ] What would be the proper line to represent something? [/ QUOTE ] generally need to put in a raise somewhere. the benefit of slowplaying is that no one will ever give you credit for a hand if you don't raise them right away... which makes it a bad line for bluffing. I mean, it's ok just as a generic steal/float but that's cuz you're just hoping that he has nothing. once he calls the turn, he obviously has something, at which point you need to move from stealing to bluffing, and there's not much you can do with just one street left to convince him that you can beat one pair. without knowing anything about him, I assume that when he check/calls rather than continuing to bet, it's because he figures you will be betting with a wider range than you will continue to call with (because he doesn't think you have much). maybe your history with him suggests otherwise... but if it were me, I would only be check/calling the turn if I am intending to call you down because I suspect a float. The ace on the river isn't a card that you can plausibly represent given the previous action, so there's no real reason to abort a calldown plan imo. |
