I like it even if I'd prefer a small river value bet.

I don't see vilain checking a better hand on the river very often at the 16. In fact, almost never.

i open to 80 utg with aces at such a low level,

flop bet is fine as played, river bet should be 260-275, river i do 1/2 pot, but with more raised pf=more raised flop=more raised turn, you should have been able to go all in without overbetting the pot.

wp until river

Yeah, preflop, flop and turn is fine.
River push can only be right if it is seen as a bluff or to prevent table to know your hand if it isn't called. But you dont mind the table knowing this hand, so that is not a good argument. Alas, I guess you will loose more than you gain on this push, as villain can be trapping. Best play imo is just checking the river and showing villain that you have a hand when you are involved. A "value bet" of 200-400 can backfire on you if he pushes on your bet. Then you must decide wheter you have been caught in a trap or if he is bluffing. No reads so early if you dont know the player, so as said - checking river is ok.

if we're putting in a small vb on the river, we HAVE to call right?

about 250 on the river is enough. i'd think long and hard about calling if they push. this maybe a good spot to sharkscope the villain... typically a winning player will bet their flush for value on the river. a loser will try to c/r (clearly a bad idea here).
