big fold, please flame
2-5 live venetian game over the weekend, full ring. my thoughts after the hand.
stacks: villain (CO): 600ish hero(BB): 2k dealt to Hero: 3d 3h many folds, CO limps, button raises to $30, sb calls, Hero calls, CO calls. Flop: Jd 3c 2s sb checks, Hero checks, villain checks, button checks. Turn: Ac sb checks, Hero bets $80, villain calls, button calls, sb folds. River: 6s Hero bets $140, villain raises to $405 (all in), button folds, Hero ponders long and hard but folds. villain was a middle-aged guy, hadn't gotten out of line in a couple hours of playing, was wearing a full tilt cap so I imagined he had at least some experience. he seemed like he knew what was up for the most part, so my spidey sense started tingling real hard when he called the turn. Everyone and their mother knew the button was calling with his AK/AQ, so in my mind villain must know this and has to be letting this call in, so I'm sure he can beat AK. I was really thinking about check-calling the river but I was scared that I was mis-thinking the hand and obviously didnt want my near-nut hand to get checked through on the river. I figured that A2/A3/A6 would not be this willing to price in AK and also not raise me on the river, as I'm repping big strength. Anyhow, he also did the whole "he's gonna fold, I know you're folding" routine, basically seemed like he was doing anything possible to arouse my suspicions. after I folded, he originally said he had 54c, then later said he had AA and that the masseuse who was working on him could verify that, although I never asked. anyhow, just curious what people think, obviously I was getting good odds (265 to win 905 ~ 3.5:1) but I really thought I was beat. |

Re: big fold, please flame
wow, i never ever fold this...
If you think he's a decent player, AA definitely can not be in his range. It's very LoL that he tried to sell you that one. I think the only hands that beat you are 45 or 66, I def call that, lots of time you're shown A6 here. EDIT: live game, 4 people in: why don't you lead flop? |

Re: big fold, please flame
easy call. he could have a number of 2pr hands or 22. i very much doubt he had AA given the preflop action. if he does have 54 then w/e, its just unfortunate, but you're getting better than 2:1 on this call. folding is very very bad.

Re: big fold, please flame
zio, not leading the flop was probably a mistake, but I'm not gonna say AA isn't possible, a couple guys who had been playing with him for awhile said that it was very possible. playing live recently I've seen some unorthodox preflop lines with AA/KK/QQ recently. I guess a better equestion would be, in villain's shoes what do you call turn, shove river with?

Re: big fold, please flame
i'd lead that flop like 99% of the time
but as played i would've checked and called riv. bet if villain shoved then i might make the same fold but i'd rarely put villain on AA here... seems much more like 54 esp if you said he wasn't clueless |
