Default FREE $5 ( ? about my Monitor)

1st person to give a correct answer gets $5.

I have a laptop with 1680 X 1050 resolution, and a CRT with 2048×1536 resolution.

When I connect the 2, the CRT changes to only having a max res. of 1680 X 1050.

What way can I retain the 2048×1536 resolution on the CRT, when I connect it to my laptop?

The max resolution that your laptop video card puts out is probably only 1680 x 1050. So even though the monitor supports a higher res, your laptop may not.

There is nothing to "retain". Your CRT is capable of displaying at up to 2048x1536. If the video adapter for the laptop isn't capable of anything beyond 1680x1050 though, it's irrelevant.

check this though......When the laptop is connected to the CRT and only the CRT screen is on, the max res. works.

multi display = CRT only having 1680 *1050

only CRT screen (still connected from laptop) = 2048×1536

So there must be a way of doing it when it's in multi montior display. Right?

It's probable that the vid card in your laptop can only display one resolution at a time.
