Is this beatable? New Florida NL games
From what I've heard, on July 1, 2007, Florida casinos are now legally able to spread NL. However this NL is more like shortstacking NL to the extreme. From what I've heard the new game is a $2/5 max 100 buyin (with a min of $20 from what I've heard).
So, I'm looking at a max buyin of 20BB with a rake of 10% up to $5 (+1 always with jackpot). I'm sure these players will be god awful. So, I'm asking, is this beatable, if you're a solid small stake NL winning player? I have tried playing the $3 NL on FT to basically deal with the shortstacks on a much larger scale and I'm up 15 BI with ~1k hands. Also, the difference between this and FT $3 games is that if a few people have large stacks (i.e. 100BB deep), it's worth to take a few gambles because you play better than the person with the larger stack so you have a chance to take his stack with 1 hand. So, how far off am I in this line of thinking that this game is beatable? I'm thinking a 3k roll should sustain me. |

Re: Is this beatable? New Florida NL games
Personally, I'd be very wary of the game. Max buy-in is 20BB, which means that you'll see a lot of short stacks automatically priced into pots. Very difficult to make moves here, but you can benefit from folks calling off their last $30-$40 when they wouldn't (or shouldn't) otherwise. That said, I think it'll be more beatable than their ridiculous $2-$2 Limit No Fold'em Hold'em games.

I don't think it's going to be 2/5, I'm pretty sure most places will be spreading 1/2. I know Derby Lanes in Gandy is spreading 1/2 NL, I don't know why anyone would want to spread 2/5. That's just ridiculous.

[/ QUOTE ] I'm confused how you can take someone's entire stack in 1 hand if you have the shorter stack in this situation. Also, the games in FL with a 20bb max won't be all that great but it's something at least. If you're looking at making a living or a side income at these games, I still would say not to bother because there won't be enough money in play on a consistant basis to warrant it. |

Sykes,
All that I've heard is that the blinds will be 1/2. I spoke to one cardroom manager and that's what he said, no mention at all of 2/5 blinds in the NL games at least. I can't see how this won't be profitable to any species of animal above a monkey. |

Do a search on Los Angeles no limit games. Its a similar structure, out NL100 is 2/3 blinds.

I think he's confusing that with the limit games, which probably will be 2/5.

I think it will be a game that you can have a positive winrate at, but I doubt you could learn a living off it unless you only eat Top Ramen and live under I95. Over time I think the limit games will be consistently soft, but for the first few weeks the NL stuff will be juicy as $2 limit Florida players start at the very bottom of the NL learning curve.
