Default Question for the OOT docs

I'm considering dramatically reducing the amount of alcohol I drink. For about the past year I have drank an average of 6 nights a week and about 8-12 beers a night. I rarely get 'hammered' drunk as my usual night of drinking is stretched out over about 5-7 hours. I don't feel that I am dependent on alcohol, but I really am not positive.

The question I ask is: would it be dangerous for me to stop drinking completely for a week or two. Reading up on alcohol withdrawal, some sites talk about severe withdrawal symptoms including seizures and hallucinations. Would this be a worry for me? I am a 23 y.o. male in decent health.

Please give me any input you might have on this issue.

You'll be fine, 8-12 a night isn't enough for bad withdrawl to kick in IMO. You don't get the DT's really bad like this unless you wake up in the morning having a drink.

I would say from my own personal experience you'll be fine. People suffering hardcore withdrawals usually drink half a liter or more of hard liquor every day.

You'll probably be fine, but it sure wouldn't hurt you to taper yourself off over a period of a few weeks rather than quitting cold turkey.

Your physical withdrawal will be nothing much. Your psychological withdrawal will have you drinking mouthwash.
