NL200 - JTs - Time For a Hero Call?
Villain is 28/0 over 30 hands. What does he have here??? PF is something I do to mix up my play, not standard for me. Comments on all streets are appreciated.

Re: NL200 - JTs - Time For a Hero Call?
I would fold as all you can beat is a busted flush and he probably thinks you have a high pocket and are afraid of the 4 str8, but he also probably won't think you're capable of folding AA-QQ. It would be too ballsy for him to bet a busted flush here I think. A cold call of an EP open raise is usually a mid pocket pair which means he probably has either a boat or a str8.

check raise all in on the turn. [/ QUOTE ] That's not so bad if he's a habitual floater. But we don't really know that yet. |

Re: NL200 - JTs - Time For a Hero Call?
As played, I think flop and turn are fine. I may have bet a little more on the turn, probably $30-35.
On the river I'd lead w/ a blocking bet if I were looking to get to showdown, maybe $35-40. Otherwise I'd check/fold. The board is awful and your hand isn't that strong. Seems like all you're beating is a busted [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] draw. Not the best spot for a call imo. |

Re: NL200 - JTs - Time For a Hero Call?
I disagree about using a blocking bet here. A blocking bet is better used when a few worse hands might call and to set the river bet size. Here you are only getting called by better hands. A hand to blocking bet would be like JJ because then AT-JT might call and if raised we can safely fold as AT-JT would be crazy to raise or to bet if you checked river.

Agreed with A_C. This seemed like a bad spot for a blocking better. c/c or c/f i'd say. I was just curious what hands you think he plays like this on all streets. Its either a monster or air, i think. What monster plays this way?

Re: NL200 - JTs - Time For a Hero Call?
Well like I said the most likely cold calling hand against a EP open raise for a decent player is a med pocket. He could have called with a set on the flop or either 99 or 77 since each have a gutshot. And those hands improved to a boat and a str8 by river.
