my first trip report \"old\" IP in biloxi
i went to the ip last september to play my first real live no limit cash game. it was 1-2 300 max. first thing i noticed when i sat down was that nobody looked or cared about this new player. second thing i noticed was that their was this kid with one damaged eye peeling out 100's every hand. he ended up losing over 2000 in 5 hours he was there. i won about 200 from him with a queens full hand and a king high flush hand. however he played much better it seems against me as he did not pay me off on the river of either hand. one hand i picked up jacks and it got heads up. the flop was ten high and this older man wearing a mafia hat raised my flop bet. at this instance i was un sure of where i was in the hand so i decided to call. remember this was my first time playing casino no limit cash game. he bet the =turn and i called. he checked the river. i bet he called and i showed my jacks he said nice hand and that was that. some time later pocket jacks cost me 300. i was heads up on the turn when a younger guy raised all in. i thought for like 4 minutes. my instincts said to fold and i knew i should have but i called. he had 9s and 5s for two pair and the river didnt help me. then thats when all hell broke loose for me. in the next 7 hours i ended up winning over 1600 in a 1-2 game. one sweet hand i had was j9 suited of clubs on the button. a guy who sorta knew that i was a decent player raised to 15 under the gun. four people called so i did. the flop was 8ten7. i flopped the nuts. there was two spades there however. he bet 100 into that flop. two people folded and two called. i then thought about what to do. i decided to raise to 300. the player under the gun went all-in. at this point one of the two callers folded leaving one guy on my right still in. he thought for like 3 minuted making me think he had spades to draw to. i wanted him to call but he folded. i then called the under the guns all-in. he showed pocket queens i showed my straight. i won the hand and a big as-s pot. the guy got very upset and said i thought it was us against them. what was i supposed to do there. fold j9 suited with all the loose callers? other hands i remember were aa vs ak all in before the flop but the guy only had like 150 in front of him. i tried to adapt a strategy where i had the biggest or at least one of the biggest stacks at all times. the ip allows you to buy in for half of the largest stack at any time so that seems good to me to do. the players were a mix of passive and agressive types. the young females were very loose and agressive and interestingly the old women were very tight but also very passive. theres was one asian guy i felt sorry for because i beat him like 10 out of 10 hands we were in together. he said once to me i cant beat you because you are so good. it was said not with friendly tones. i just ignored him. the guy that beat my jacks with two pair ended up losing all his money as i knew he should have. he had had over 700 at one point. i ended up playing like 12 hours before i headed back to tallassee florida. i posted this win on a thread about biggest wins in 1-2 some time back. i gotta say that the little green book helped me very much as i had not purchased the 2+2 no limit book yet. i purchase that book when i got home. i have played limit for many years in AC and foxwoods but i think that for the next 5 years no li it will be the game to play.
