Flopping middle pair in a family pot.
Purple lounge 2/4
Second hand at table, hero is SB with 87o (no spade). 3 limpers (all 40/6/0.8 45% wtsd calling station types), hero completes bb checks Flop K83, two spades. Do I bet? What's my plan for the hand? In the hand, BB bet and all the limpers call. What do I do - and why? I called, turn is a blank, BB bets again 2 limpers call. I? As you can probably tell I felt completely lost in the hand. |

Re: Flopping middle pair in a family pot.
i fold the flop. If BB has a K, you have 5 outs but if on of the limper has a flush draw, you only have 3 outs and you still can hit just to get rivered by a spade or a better two pairs or a K.
It's an easy fold for me, even with all the odds we are getting from the pot. |

Re: Flopping middle pair in a family pot.
Fold the flop. Reverse implied odds situation. 8s may be no good, leaving you with 3 outs of which 1 may be no good due to flush draw. Even if you catch you could be beaten by a better 2pair, set, or a flush.

Re: Flopping middle pair in a family pot.
definately check the flop and assess the action. if there is a bet and a bunch of callers peel to draw to 2pair. consider c/r if it is bet in LP by a bad aggressive player and there are no callers between you and him.
edit: peel if you have the correct odds, that is. on the turn check and peel if you have odds to draw to 2pair. |

Re: Flopping middle pair in a family pot.
I don't mind a flop bet. If you check, fold is good in this multiway pot. As played, on the turn, calling would be very, very bad. If BB bets, there's a caller and an overcaller, there's no way everyone has worse than a pair of 8's with a 7 kicker.

was the 8 of spades on the flop? [/ QUOTE ] I think so yes. I totally butchered the hand by checkraising the turn (I have no idea what I was thinking) and c/calling a club river btw. I know that's bad ofc, but upon reviewing I also realized I have no plan for situations like this, so that's why I posted ^-^. Wildcat, if you bet out and get 1-2 callers do you lead the turn? |

Re: Flopping middle pair in a family pot.
I think that I bet this flop. I think you've got a good chance to thin the field and a small chance to win right there. If you get raised I think that I call and re-evaluate on the turn. If I just get called I think I fire again on the turn if it's HU unless it's a spade Ace. If it's still multiway then I'm firing if blanks fall and probably calling down if raised.
The stuff in bold is bad and probably why I hover around -.5 bb/100 so disregard it. However, I was surprised to see how many said c/f. |

Re: Flopping middle pair in a family pot.
arrgh> you shouldnt call down if you get raised on a blank Turn imho, of course vs some aggros you can call especially if the Turn is good semibluff card but u "sound" like u see this as a general line wich is a loosing one...thats why i dont donk this in a multiway pot...you cannot always fold vs aggros and youll end up paying them off too often and you have a hard time vs callingstations ooP figuering out if they calling with Top Pair TT or A3...you only put yourself in bad positions...youll often be on the River having 1 or 2 opponents and end up b/f or you get called by K7 or A8...then you know you did something wrong
