Anyone consider a bet here?
During my pondering I thought: 1. If he bets I'm going to call, so why not bet out. 2. If he raises on this board I'm cooked so I would fold to a raise. 3. Might I bluff a straight or set into mucking when the 3rd spade comes? |

Why not reraise the turn? I'd say the backdoor flush is unlikely overall, but if you thought he was drawing for it you should punish. Really don't understand the idea of not reraising the turn but donk betting the river after your hand basically just got worse. I can't imagine a set or straight folding here.

On the turn I was concerned, but not sure that he had made a straight. I didn't reraise, because if he capped me with the straight I wouldn't be able to get away from my two pair with outs remaining.

I recognize your points, but during that instant guessed that the benefits of betting the river for value (with the villain calling with a king/good kicker or worse 2 pair) or possibly mucking a straight, set, or better two pair outweighed checking and possibly calling. Obviously, I'm not sure I was right since I posted this.
As it turned out, I donked the river and the villain folded. I can only guess that he folded a set or straight given that he raised the turn, but of course I'm not sure. Any thoughts on what villain might have had? |

A8, no spades.
I like c/c on this river, too. I'm not bet/folding two pair, and it gives a busted straight draw (or 2nd pair) a chance to bet. |
