Default cheap set of chips

i'm currently looking to invest in a nice big set of chips, but in the meantime i have been looking for a cheap set, just to keep me going.

i found a party poker set which i think is good value. it works out at £30 delivered ($60) for 500 chips. thing is, i actually have a set of 300 chips from party which are very nice - i got them last year when party still had the party store. i wonder if they sold off their surplus stock and am i getting a bargin (wishful thinking i know) or if these are just cheap imitations of the other ones (which are pretty nice)

anyhow, i ordered a set, even if they are not that good, and for £30 i am not that worried if they are plastic! just need to save up for my paulsons!!

Yup. 11.5g usually means covered metal slugs.

Are those not plastic, too? By "plastic", are you guys meaning the Nexgen-type?

I have some "ceramic" Nevada Jacks that I think are pretty good. One of these days I hope to get some clay chips, though.

got these chips. they are definately not the same or as good quality as the chips party used to give away but they are very decent for the money. better than other cheap sets i have seen. will do me for now. i'd totally recommend them for anyone looking to only spend £30 (delivered) on a 500 set.

now i need to get saving for my paulson private cardrooms (which i think are the most stylish and quality chip around)

They're slugs covered with plastic. Ceramic and clay chips are lighter than that.

I'm just starting out and threw $51. (35.00 + 16.00 shpng./hndlng) into a 400 pc. chip set w. case, 2 decks cards, dice, dealer button from PokerNStuff.

The Chinese made clays are 11.5 gr. (supposedly) and are not marked with denominations. I had been buying 11.5 gr. clays from a local store and these new chips feel a tad lighter than the store bought. The finish isn't as smooth as my 50 chips @$20. store boughts but for slagging around at home I think they're OK.

For those looking you may want to keep an eye out on Ebay.

If you know how to search by distance you may find a good deal (avoid shipping cost)
I bought a brand new WPT chipset for $30 (seen them at online stores from $125-$200).

Picked it up 3 miles from the house.
