Default 25/50...3 bet bluff all-in on river

Villain is unknown but from what I've seen in the past 20 minutes, he's tightish. Im also curious what you guys think about even betting the river in the first place. I think c/f, c-c, and betting for value might all be viable options depending on the opponent.

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $50 BB (9 handed) pokerhand.org hand converter

MP1 ($750)
MP2 ($700)
MP3 ($4547)
CO ($8073)
Button ($4925)
Hero ($6350)
BB ($12897)
UTG ($1000)
UTG+1 ($2842)

Preflop: Hero is SB with J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img].
<font color="#666666">4 folds</font>, <font color="#CC3333">MP3 raises to $150</font>, <font color="#666666">2 folds</font>, Hero calls $125, <font color="#666666">1 fold</font>.

Hero checks, MP3 checks.

Turn: ($350) Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
<font color="#CC3333">Hero bets $250</font>, MP3 calls $250.

River: ($850) 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
<font color="#CC3333">Hero bets $550</font>, <font color="#CC3333">MP3 raises to $1200</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero raises to $5950</font> (about 3k more to villain)

cant see villian checking the flop with an overpair. a set usually would raise turn so his hand looks Qx or air bluffing the straights. if you say hes tight then he shouldnt show up with a wierd two pair here. if he can fold AQ i like it. otherwise ya check/call and check/fold are better.
tho your hand also looks like AQ. sometimes 99 backing into a set and a set w/ flop check.

looks like his AQ trying to get you off a "chop" or maybe a worse queen trying to fade a better one. so he def have to fold AQ to make this profitable. so used sparingly i give this an O.K.

I may have just called the $1200 reraise on the rvr, it is a tough one cause checked flop gave no info and called turn he could have anything, well as could you......

did he call the reraise on rvr ??

I generally prefer to know more about my opponents before trying a move like this.

I'd say most of his range is bluffs and AQ going for thin value, all of which he'll fold. Having the Jc helps keep the monsters out of his range.

so yea it looks fine on paper.

I think i'd generally c/c river here, or maybe c/f if his bet looked value-ish.

I like, his most likely hand seems like AQ and it's a very difficult call with that. Although AQ isn't his whole range, you have 2 jacks making JT less likely and most of his range seems like strong 1p/weak 2p hands. Overall I think it worked.

If this guy is tightish he is not looking for extra value from AQ here. As you say, your 3BAI is only a bluff, but what hands does this guy raise with on the river? I mean he could be value raising AA looking to get paid off by your AQ. If he thinks you won't be on a JT or 67 out of the small blind then he has to give you a set to lay his hand down.

well, the way i feel about these kinda plays, is that at a higher level against thinking players they are awesome, and you seem to love to do things like this.. but against ppl at a full ring 25-50 game.. they dont work so hot. people dont think about your range in these spots, they just think about their hand. if they have 2 pair, they are like oh wow i have 2 pair.. hrmm... lemme see... the 2 pairs.. oh wth i call. they dont consider the fact that you are only valueshoving better hands, or bluffing. this concept just blows over their heads completely. so.. basically what im saying is.. i think its an overall sick play, but i feel like in a 25-50 full ring game on stars, it gets called too much to make it profitable.
