New Software: The Opener

A few weeks ago I realized was almost at my Pooh-Bah post. I started to think about what I would do. Sadly, I don't know nearly enough about poker to make a big thoughtful strategy post that would help tons of people. So I turned to the forum where I spend the most time, Software. I couldn't think of any one thing that I thought really fit, but I was working on a on re-writing a little thing I had coded up a year ago. I decided that the release would be my Pooh-Bah as I think it is something that other would find helpful.

Before we get to the good stuff I just want to say thank you to the rest of the software regulars. I've learned a lot from you guys and you've written some great code that has helped me work on my own projects. I'm not gonna name names because:
1) Forgetting someone would suck.
2) I think that everyone that comes here has the potential to write the next thing that changes the way we do things. And people should have confidence in themselves to see what they can do and not always look to others for all the answers.


Ok, if you read all that stuff above, good. If you didn't, it's fine because it had little to do with what was listed as the thread title.

The Opener is a fully customizable window that allows the user to select a variety of user defined applications to launch (or files to open) at once.
<ul type="square">[*]The window will size itself based on the configurations the user has setup.[*]Each program or file can be opened with a few different preferences including setting the priority of the application and running another AutoHotkey script.[*]Adding new items is done completely within the program.[/list]
The program is not poker specific, but I initially wrote it because I had so many poker shortcuts on my desktop and was clicking half of them every time I was starting a session.

I hope you guys like it and use it. Comments, suggestions, questions, and bug reports are all welcome. I'll try to keep up on this for the weekend, but I will be away for a week starting Monday.

Thanks a lot. Sounds very useful.

I can't get it to work yet. I get the following error when I try to open the opener.ahk file:

"Error at line 1285.

Line Text: "TheArray"
Error: Bad default value.

The program will exit"

I assume I'm missing something that should be very obvious to me. Any advice appreciated. And thanks again for doing this.

You will need to update to the newest version of AutoHotkey. The Opener requires at least v1.0.46.13 of AutoHotkey.

yep, mine looks the same, if I do all radio buttons then it works, but if I try to do checkboxes for my poker apps then its all funky.
