Well against a short stack you have to be a bit careful since you can easily get commited when you don't have anything (as you did).

It seems that you certainly have every right to re-raise a button raiser when you have AQ, but I think I might have come in for slightly less. I'm thinking that maybe 5 dollars will do the same job as 6, but will make the flop pot 2 dollars less.

On the flop, I would also bet less so that I could get away from the hand if he raised. He did call your re-raise preflop so you do have to give him some credit for a hand so you can get away from your hand if you had sized your bets differently so you weren't so committed.

Easy to say all this now, but in the heat of the battle, I probably would have done about the same as you did.

I would offer different advice. I would raise MORE preflop as you have the best hand preflop, so that's where you want the most money in possible. Commit yourself obviously so that you don't have anything but a shove on the flop. It makes the hand easier and more correctly played for you.

Push yourself instead but this is very standard.
