So ill be a freshman next year in the University of Illinois Business school. Summer registration for classes is coming up pretty soon.
Do I have any kind of say in my freshman year classes, or are they all gen ed classes kind of put upon me? I have a lot of AP Credits (including calc and economics). I also know that I want to double major with Finance and either statistics or economics or business administration. Should I get my gen ed classes out of the way or should I try to get ahead and take sophomore classes. Any advice? |

if you are into econ and statistics you should consider the actuarial science program at Illinois. i think (you may want confirm this yourself) university of Illinois and Illinois state are both considered THE schools for actuarial science. anyway, if you pass two SOA exams and graduate with an act sci degree from illinois, you will mostly likely be able to find a pretty high paying entry level job when you graduate. if you are into that kind of thing, which i am guess you are since you seem to be a business guy.
EDIT: oops, i kind of dodged the OP. I seriously recommend taking whatever you want to your first year(s). if you find yourself not taking any classes in your major as a result, then that should send a pretty strong signal that you should consider changing your major. I am really laid back about planning for future events in general though, so it might not be the right approach for you. |

At illinois, Im pretty sure they do not allow you to take business classes freshman year? If that applies, should I just try to take statistics or economics classes?

hello there.
you'll need to take econ 202, 203(stats classes) and accy 201, 202. You should probably get cs105 out of the way |
