I am an experienced (10+ years) NLH cash game player and a 4 year+ live tournament player. I am an amateur and mainly play WSOP and WPT events etc for FUN and a social outing (I take enough risk as a trader in real life).
So with that in mind the following hand came up at last year's WSOP $2500 PLH event. I have been at this table for only 1 round and in that round tripled up when my 5s5c hit a set against QQ and KK. I have been berated since the suck out by all as being a loose moron. So that is my image ! We have just made the money with 52 of 562 players left. It is 2am and the last round for day 1 Blinds are $600/$1200 (remember PLH so no ante) I am in SEAT 1 (UTG) with $32,300 in chips Seat 2 is John Gale chip leader with approx $90,000 chips Seat 10 the bb has approx $42,000 in chips Average stack now is $25,000 chips I am dealt Ah-Kd and raise UTG to $3000 John Gale on my left smooth calls after a very quick think Folds around to the bb who insta-raises to $9,000. This guy has just moved into the seat of the player I busted with my set of 5s but is known to be a ALF (aggressive little flunky)...... So I go into the tank and weigh up do I want to push for the home run or do I want to stay tomorrow and play day 2 in case I get knocked out (remember for me this was a social outing)........ I eventually fold...............John Gale inst reraises to the pot and seat 10 the bb inst-folds.......... I got squeezed and was pissed....... I told John Gale later what I had and that I was gonna push but was scared of him...he acknowledged I had him dominated and would have folded..... The next day I was a weak little cat and wimpered out in 19-26th pay place. What should I have done ? |
