$5NL sng marginal push?
I played a best of nine set of heads up stt's on UB with my housemate, one hand I have about 650 chips, blinds 20/40 and going up to 30/60 in about a minute. I push J9 suited and he believes it is a -EV play. I think this is always +EV given my M and the raising blinds. Chances are he will fold and I will add nearly 10% to my stack. Obv he has tens and busts me and goes on to win 5-4! Please clarify here as my M is slighlty above 10 so goes above the pushbot chart.

Re: $5NL sng marginal push?
I don't know if this is +ev, but you aren't really adding 10% of chips to your stack in a great way, you are risking everything. You could probably raise 4x and push out almost as much as he would call with.

Re: $5NL sng marginal push?
ICM says it's marginal. If you were down to around 400-450, it's a much better play.

Re: $5NL sng marginal push?
M is about 16. If you'd raised to 100 or so there'd be a fair chance of a fold (against some opponents) without having to risk your whole stack.

Re: $5NL sng marginal push?
to me this is any easy fold. iagree that he may be donking it up with a pp, but its more likely imo that he slowplayed a big hand twice only calling. its not worth all those chips ath this stage. i would fold now win later.

Re: $5NL sng marginal push?
Not taking stacks into consideration, J9s has 55.6% equity over a random hand.
I agree this would be a good play in a low M situation. Given a higher M, you only get called here when you're beat, so "no", I'm not a big fan of the play. I'd look for a better spot. |

Re: $5NL sng marginal push?
with 16 bb this seems to be a bit too loose unless you know your opponent is folding too much. the blind increase does not matter at all because its hu.
