Default June 1

I have a couple friends who have mentioned to me that June 1st is the old "deadline" set by the DOJ for online sites to stop doing business with Americans...with the group of sites instantly leaving the market it seems like we forgot about this "grace period" in all the chaos...I dont remember this being the exact date, but I remember a 9 month period was set. Does anyone think any fall-out could come related to the June 1st date?

Get a grip and stay current on news by reading this forum more often and articles linked to. The date for the sites to stop doing business as far as the DoJ is concerned, was the DAY THE PREZ SIGNED IT, i.e. in Ocotober last year. It is only the specific regulations that we are waiting on, which are due by around the middle of July. The exact form of the regs, and how effective they are likely to be (or how easily circumvented), will have a lot to do with the sites that now take US players continuing or not, to do so.

The real day to watch was GAD back in March, which passed quietly... some say too quietly.

Monday, June 4 is the deadline for the announcement of NETeller's 75 day plan.

Tuesday, July 10 is the 270-day deadline for the US gov't to release
details on how the UIGEA will be enforced (assumes the countdown started
on October 13 when Bush signed it into law).

Monday, July 16 is the deadline for NETeller to resume trading shares or
be delisted from AIM.
