Showboat $100 Opie & Anthony Tournament

Just discovered this today on Showboat's website:

Opie & Anthony Poker Tournament

They claim to have a $20k guaranteed 1st prize. Assuming 1st place gets 25% of prize pool, that means there will have to be 800 entrants. Seems like a stretch for the Showboat, esp considering I'd never heard of it until now.

Does anyone know anything else about this?

right underneath is says

"There will be over $30,000 in Guaranteed prizes and tons of giveaways!"

so the payout is probably very top heavy. could be something like 5K - 2K - 1K etc from 2nd place on down.

shock jocks might be cheating too...

1) Taj Mahal CEO tournaments May 19 - 25
2) Borgata $250k guaranteed tournament - May 20
3) Opie & Anthony tournament at Showboat - May 19

I'm registered already. Cage told me the cap was 400 people, I was about 50th on Friday night 5/4.

Hold on to your shorts, but Harrah's Inc. is taking 35%. The sponsoring radio stations (K-ROCK and WYSP) are obviously putting up the overlay. My math says $26k prize pool contributed by the players, and $14k to Harrah's with a 400 player field. Total prize pool is guaranteed at $30k and they appear to be paying only the final 9. Tournament is held in the New Orleans ballroom. No word on structure.

Im sure the structure will be bad but its only $100 and id be surprised if it gets more than 300 people. $20k 1st place Guarantee sounds nice. + id bet maybe 1/2 the field will be playing in their first live MTT.

The Junkies is a radio show that broadcasts in the DC/ VA/MD area. They recently held their 2nd annual poker tourny at the Borgata. 260+40 with 400+ entrants. I'm just giving them [censored] but I wouldn't be surprised if they got the idea from them. Though I'm sure The Junkies aren't the first radio show to hold a tourny. I believe both the junkies and O&A work for cbs radio and are in the same market as each other.
