Default NL100; bad river play?

Have played only 7 hands with villain

Poker Stars - No Limit Hold'em Cash Game - $0.50/$1 Blinds - 6 Players - (LegoPoker HH Converter)

<font color="black">Hero (SB): $144.30</font>
BB: $100
UTG: $132.20
MP: $100
CO: $65.15
BTN: $102.95

<font color="black">Preflop:</font> Hero is dealt A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (6 Players)
2 folds, CO calls $1, BTN folds, <font color="red">Hero raises to $5</font>, BB folds, CO calls $4

<font color="black">Flop:</font> ($11) 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 Players)
<font color="red">Hero bets $7.50</font>, CO calls $7.50

<font color="black">Turn:</font> ($26) 6[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 Players)
<font color="red">Hero bets $15</font>, CO calls $15

<font color="black">River:</font> ($56) T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 Players)
Hero checks, CO checks

Pot Size: $56 ($2.70 Rake)

CO had 7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] and LOST (-$27.50)
Hero had A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (a pair of Aces) and WON (+$25.80)

I really don't know how the right play looks on this spot; the board was extremly scary and I was out of position, but despite of that I'm feeling that the play I chose was not very good especially on the river.
Have anybody suggestion how I could play this hand better?
Thank you

I bet 18-20 on the turn. River check is pretty standard here.

More on the turn and def. check river. Complaining about not extracting another bet on this scary river is resulstorientated.

yea to add to my previous post, you can't feel like you're missing value vs worse hands on this river. If you were to fire again here and he has A7o, it's going to look incredibly strong to villain that you're firing again even though (what may be) a big scare card just came down. What I'm saying, is that your line looks really strong and you won't be getting looked up by worse one-pairs nearly enough to make it profitable.

I'm not complaining about not extracting more on the river; I was just unsure whether it is correct to check here.
But it seems to be a standard play and after reading the replies I understand that betting out can't be profitable over the long run.
Thank you
