live limit holdem, raising for value preflop?
Situation: 10 man limit ring game, blinds 2/4. you pick up TT on the CO and the action to you is 3 call, and the guy before you raises.
Let's say you know for a fact that if you reraise here all of the limpers plus the blinds will call anyway. So a reraise has got no value at all for isolation, just for possible value. Is that raise worth it then just because your hand probably has an edge on them preflop? The reraise would basically be a pot sweetener. |

Re: live limit holdem, raising for value preflop?
If I know all will call behind then I'm just going to cold call here. You don't 3-bet TT for value in an already raised pot, especially when it's multiway.

Re: live limit holdem, raising for value preflop?
Normally no, but this is going to be a HUGE pot, you have absolute AND relative position, AND you're getting 6:1 on your money.
You're getting set odds on a hand with wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy more equity than that. Easy raise. It changes dramatically if you're up against tighter blinds and someone who only raises even a somewhat narrow range(probably quite true given 3 limpers -- as you can see some won't reraise TT in multiway pots because it's just too much to deal with postflop) You also have to worry about getting capped. |

yea, bus to 3town, not sure what the confusion is. i don't hate just calling and i see why people are thinking that but i think raising is still > calling.

hmmm, in this situation i would just call and raise the flop if i feel it is a favorable one.

Re: live limit holdem, raising for value preflop?
normally i would, but with this many people already limping, no one's folding the flop or turn.
if i just call, and the pre-flop raiser bets, i have an opportunity to make the other players make mistakes if the flop is to my liking. if i was in early or middle position, i think it's a definate 3-bet. |

Re: live limit holdem, raising for value preflop?
3 limpers + PF raiser + 2 blinds + Hero = 7 players so the 3 bet is getting 7:1 on a 6:1 set shot. Set's don't always win = small discount. But add value for position, implied odds, and possible free card on the turn if the flop misses, and my live mental math sees this problem an easy 3 bet.
