Bought a 2nd video card, will i be able to run both at once?

i bout a 2nd video card to install to give me 2 outputs so i can run a 2nd monitor. gateway support just tells me that i can only run 1 video card at a time, if i put this card in, is there anyway i can run both cards at once? thanks alot
