If you're not shoving a blank turn, why raise flop?

k heres what I think... its the first hand, the guy is betting into us the whole way and doesnt stop when we show resistance. His range is unbelievably wide. He has 2/3 of his stack in the pot already. If he has any pair, the OE draw he's not folding to the shove here. The only hand he folds is air. If we just call his turn bet he will shove the river with the pairs, the busted draws, air and obv the made strt, but since hes not folding the strt draw to a shove on the turn..... why not just call the turn bet and let him hang himself on the river? Obv if we shove turn hes folding air, and I think a random on the 1st hand playing like this has air alot.

thoughts?

Because I think it's push/fold at this point. If you mini-raise that puts him all in. No point in slowplaying now that the pot is a monster.

You're not considering folding are you? If he has J9/96 and you don't fill up on the river, that's poker.

This probably belongs in BBV.

Villian can easily have 88/77/87 maybe T8/T7 maybe AT or even A8/A9 type hands. Even if he has the straight, you'll fill up on the river often enough.

This hand is pretty basic.

What if the turn is a jack, nine, 7 and he pushes. And he might not bet river with a busted draw, but just check-fold. Get it in now with the best of it. Very easy push. The pot is big now.

Also

Minraising is horrible. Everyone should stop doing it.

Villian LEAD POT into the preflop raiser. He rarely has a straight here. I can see a combo draw a lot, like 89/79. The only cards I'm really worried about on the turn are a jack and a six, in which case, you just put yourself in a tough spot because you minraised the flop...
