Default Cant crack NL $50

HI all, Im new to the forum and quite new to poker, been playing about 1 year now played limit the first 3 months and nothing but nl for the last 9, started on pacific at 5c/10c, managed to get my roll to $400 over a few months then moved to prima and played 10c/20c, a little bit harder but i was still slowly winning, got my BR to $1000 a few months before christmas, and have tried moving to 25c/50c ever since. However I always seem to be failing here I think I might be dropping back onto $20 to quickly, I'll give an example I'll play for a day break about even next day i'll be up 75-100 next day i'll drop a little under 1000, next day i'll drop $150, this is where i panic about my br and drop down and spend a few days gettting back to 950-1000 before hitting the $50 tables again. I've read alot about BR managment and have been very strict with myself, I know $1000 is ok for 25c/50c, but how much of a drop can i take before having to drop onto 10c/20 again? I feel ok at the $50 limit and think i might be dropping back down againt to quickly and not having enough time to make it back and more at the 50 limit, Hope this is making sense. Thanks in advance for anuy help, input advice.

It's all up to you and where you feel comfortable. Since you aren't comfortable with <$1000 BR, there's no shame in dropping down. It's hard to play your best poker if you are worried about your BR, so I'd suggest to keep doing what you're doing.

I was shocked recently in another thread to see a number of very respected SS regs saying that they found 50NL to be tough to beat.

Tufat, Pokey (!!), Illuminati and Deaders are 4 that come to mind.

There does seem to be something particualrly odd about 50NL, because all 3 of the above posters are top, top players and do well at higher stakes than 50.

Dunno, weird.

PM me if you are interested in coaching. I am affordable. I have crushed uNL and I have taught others to beat 50 and 100 NL. I also come with references from respected SSNLers.

On a different note, play within your comfort zone, if not comfortable at 1000$ then wait til you have 1500

If you feel fine at 1000$ then drop down to 25NL if you happen to drop 8-10 buyins ... in other words when you hit 600 or 500$ again depending on your comfort zones.

Chomp that is due to 50NL is the first level, where you encounter some sort of aggression.

100NL is NOT softer, but it is different, the regs are much better, but it seems that 100NL sounds more attractive to donks than 50NL, so there are some pretty awful players there as well.

And to be honest, I remember Pokey back in the day taking shots at 50NL, and trust me, he was not the player then, that he is today. (neither where I, total noob ... back in the start of 2006 or so)

I am a NL 200 reg. I think the biggest reason for this is that many higher stakes players come to 50 NL and assume they can sit down cold and crush the game. They tend to put themselves in very, very marginal situations at 50 NL whereas they are beating higher stakes through table selection and avoiding marginal situations. That was my experience at least.

Also, after playing 200 NL for a while, you have to relearn what lines mean at 50 NL. Players are much more straightforward, but you have to "relearn" to read their hands to a certain extent.
