I dunno about preflop. What was your plan if an over flopped?

I probably just stick it in pre against an unknown. I have trouble buying the idea that a range that beats JJ opens for 275 here after a single limper.

With reads you can often just fold this preflop against a lot of players since they'll never open worse than JJ/AK here.

I'm assuming if you are smooth calling here, you are going to let this go if an A or a K flops. In which case, I don't like the idea of call/folding like 19% of my stack. So, I think it's either shove or fold pf, and I'm leaning towards shove. Unless it's against beanmo in a $200 in which case it's probably a fold but I'm still shoving anyway bc that's just the kind of donk I am.

pre:
i actually think this play is ok. you want to see the flop before you go futher, nothing wrong with that. if you raise, and he calls, you really don't know more about where you stand.
post:
you got the flop you wanted, push is fine. it would be really hard for villian to go futher with AK/AQ here, but of course, he could have you beat already. So, kinda risky, but again, you got what you hoped for.

how did it go?

I'm folding this ... but it kinda hurts.
I can't see many hands that play this way JJ beats.
This could very easy be a small pocket ... 55-99 or such stuff.
They play them like this quite often but ... I think I'd just fold and cry when they got it all in with A8s and 77

He is raising a UTG limper, with no read I don't mind the flat call here. You really have no other option on the flop playing it how you did other than folding, and you're not giving away chips.

But yeah, I would've shoved pre.

I'm probably folding to a bet on A or K board, shoving on Q-high and all others.

Definitely almost did, but I figure it gives him a chance to fold 22-99 (though he's probably coming with TT).

yeah I dunno. It just seemed too early to be shoving with jacks...

Well he folded (after tanking almost to the limit) so I took a decent pot but I still felt pretty unsure about the whole hand.
