Default PP 300K Late Stages Small Stack 9,9 in SB Big Stack is BB

On Sunday I played the PP 300K. First prize was $60K. I qualify for these tournaments playing $3 rebuys. Most weeks I qualify with no problem.

There are 34 players left. Average stack is about 215K. I'm in the SB and the BB is one of the big stacks. All fold to me.

I've already cashed $1200. The next money spot ($300 more) was 4 seats away. I'm pretty well guaranteed making the next money spot just by posting and folding.

I started the tournament with just over $300 in my bankroll, So the extra $300 is pretty big but the $60K is really alluring.

if you're sweatin' another $300, you're playing too high. even if you did qualify through small rebuys. in general, you should be playing to win, not to move up a notch. in the long run, the flameouts will be washed away by deep finishes.

sorry you jammed and the BB woke up with KK or you lost the race, but it's the correct and optimal play. you get the BB to fold, you increase your stack by 20%. plus it rates to be the best hand. however, if you had a read where the bb is ultra-agressive, one could make the case for a limp/jam.

again, sorry you lost the hand.

I really want to hear any arguement against a push here.

no argument here, but i originally mentioned that if OP had a read where the BB was raising SB limpers, one could make the case for limp/jamming. my default is to, of course, make with the jammy.

this is such a ridiculously easy push it isn't worth discussing, and if fear of busting is going to keep you from making obvious moves, you are in way over your head

Easy push, folding or anything else is pretty bad unless you're trap calling and plan to re raise all in, but I can't see any reason not to push.

PS. Prize money is (in theory) irrelevent and if you fold here to try and gain $300 extra you're actually hurting your chances of making money, not improving them.

Does PP have a thing like pokerstars where if you win a satellite to a tournament you can unregister and get T$? If you can do this, I would suggest unregistering from the 300k and play alot of smaller tournaments. This way you can play more tourneys, get more experience, and build your br so you really can play these big tourneys and have a shot.

Just a few comments:

First, I'm the only one that gets to decide what percentage of my bankroll I am willing to put into any given tournament. It's obviously worth it to me as I do it every week and qualify most weeks.

Second, nothing is always as cut and dried as you guys seem to think. Fortunately it's a world full of individuals each with his or her own opinion. I may or may not make the same play the next time but, after discussing it further with one of my poker buddies, I now now see the hand differently than I did at the time.

Third, it's not about "sweatin" the $300. What if you had gotten lucky and qualified for the WSOP and this happened in the main event and the next money spot was another $300K? I don't know about you but I'm quite sure that my play would be different in that situation. But I could be wrong. I might still have done the same thing.

To "brad3" who wanted to know if I could have unregistered and taken the $215. N0. You must use your first qualification to play the tournament. After that you can play as many qualifiers as you want and take the cash.

An to "nath" who wrote: "this is such a ridiculously easy push it isn't worth discussing"

That's so pompous and arrogant. If it's "not worth discussing" then just move on Ace. Don't even bother getting involved.

Finally, as I said, there are so many different ways to look at a particular play and it's not always so cut and dried. This one seems pretty straight forward and, as you saw, that's the way I played it but, I might not play it the same way the next time. But, then again, I might.

I thank you guys for your input.
