Re: Ak 3 barreled vs river raise, how is my line so far. what now?
I'd bet a little bet more on flop and turn. We're trying to get value out of weaker aces, and on this board, he'll typically call down all aces he coldcalled pf with. Also, the weaker bets tend to induce more bluffs, but if that's what you were trying to do, then by all means. I'd fold as played. Usually AJ, sometimes a hand with a 5, and once in a while 76s and other air.

Re: Ak 3 barreled vs river raise, how is my line so far. what now?
I may be wrong but it appears the pot if you call is laying you exactly 2-1. You have put $80 into the pot, after your 42 bet, you have 118 left. 236 - 118. With that said, I'm folding top pair here. AJ, A5, 54, 44, 55. I think all of these are within range for him, and I feel like I'm beat too often here to make the call. Id really like to know what other people think, and I would definately defer to some of the stronger players on this board, but thats my opinion.

is there any merit in a check on the turn or river?
if you c/c river, why? |

I don't mind a turn check here from time to time, as we're likely way ahead. River is tough, I guess I'd give him credit for AJ at that point and fold, maybe like A5s or something but either way it's a hand that beats us.

i bet smallish because villain seemed decent and i didnt want him to fold a worse ace and the board was so dry.

Re: Ak 3 barreled vs river raise, how is my line so far. what now?
I think you lose a ton of value from c/c the river. AQ/ and even AT might check through.
whereas in this hand you are beaten by a very limited range. 44, A5 and AJ. I really discount 55 simply because quads are just not common enough to warrent serious consideration. I can definitely see 44 playing this exactly the same way as well as AJ. however for me that range is too limited against a other aces that might be looking you up. I call, but I'm a donk. |
