Default NBA All-Defensive teams

1st:

Tim Duncan
Bruce Bowen
Marcus Camby
Raja Bell
Kobe Bryant

2nd:

Ben Wallace
Kirk Hinrich
Jason Kidd
Tayshaun Prince
Kevin Garnett

Can someone please explain how the hell Shawn Marion gets fourth in DPOY voting but is somehow not even in the top 10 three days later?

Kobe Bryant?! Oh yeah, the best defense is a great offense?

Wow, there is definitely a lot of people that just can't love the Matrix.

People have to realize that the Suns would be so much worse without him. Not as if they had loss Nash, but this guy is like 50x more important than Amare to that team.

Brag: Was about to start a new post lobbying for Matrix support, soooooooooo pleased that 2p2ers beat me to it.

He could win a DPOY if he didn't have to shoulder a huge offensive load. Even with that he still manages to play pretty solid D.

Kobe has no business being on this team. He's great when he wants to be, but his own coaching staff says he hurts his team by playing a "personal zone". He's just not dedicated on the defensive end.

I'm not big on Ben Wallace making the second team. uhh.. Okafur? Chandler? Hell 'Sheed Wallace probably had a better defensive year.

edit: OK I seem completely wrong about this, according to 82 games. http://82games.com/dpoy.htm . I guess as a center Okafur falls behind Camby and Wallace.

I don't see Kobe's offensive contributions as justification for a lack of defense, when voting for the best defensive players. Kobe in some previous years (w/ Shaq) has managed to play both offense & defense, but not this year. kidcolin is totally right about Kobe just playing a single man zone. If anything, Kobe was a detriment on defense.

Well, the rumor is that Marion won't be resigned when his contract is up (pretty sure it's at the end of next season). Not surprising since Sarver is supposed to be a little cost-conscious and he is their highest paid player. That could mean he is shipped mid-season next year, particularly if they get the 4th or 5th seed in the upcoming draft and use it to draft a replacement.

Uhhhhh....? Although I do agree that it's weird and unfortunate that he is left off the list completely, particularly after all the DPOY talk all year.
