Default Beat: Friend is destructive gambler

Hey BBV4L,

I am getting worried about a friend I have, I'm sure some of you have been in the same position as I am now and have had (or still do have) a friend who can't control his gambling etc.

He is a good player. But he tilts really badly, and when that happens he moves up limits and loses big amounts (He usually plays 2-4 or 2.50-5 and when he moves up he goes to 5-10 or 10-20)

So basically, his pattern is win a bit, then another session take some beats, then move up and lose what he won in 4 or 5 winning sessions before and some more.

Basically, I want to know if anyone has had a friend with this problem, and been able to make progress with them?

I have spoken in depth about it a lot with him but I can't seem to get through to him. I keep trying to tell him to start with 500 bucks or so and play 25NL work up yada yada, but thats all he hears yada yada yada and he never listens and just continues to lose.

Anyone got any advice how to get through thick skulls?

Thanks

Thanks for your advice, you seem really good at it. How's your "friend" doing?

If he tilts real badly he is not a good player.

Well obviously not so good, and friend is in inverted commas because;

a) you think its me
b) you think I don't have any friends

Which is it?

But its seriously my friend. I am a good tilt controller.

But its like talking to a brick wall. Serious advice appreciated. (you can imagine I am the destructive gambler if it makes you feel better)

You know what I mean, he can play good, good with theory etc. but indeed, cannot put it into practice due to tilt.

Tried Gamblers Annonymous, sent him link etc. said I was being serious. He just laughed it off.....
