Default Best site for newbies

Hello all

I usually play stud, but I thought I'd expand my territory with NLHE - small stakes at first, of course. I'd like to know the good places for beginners. I play a solid 2-3 BB/Hour small stakes limit game, but NL is new for me.

Stars, Prima, UB and PokerRoom all have $10 buy-in tables, whereas Empire, Party and Crypto starts at $25, so the latter is too high for starters.

I looked at the FAQ for this forum (and did a search too without too much luck), and a bigger bankroll is recommended for Stars. Is that because people play better or just wilder?

Thanks in advance for your input,

Smurf

I've heard people recommend Pacific on grounds of how bad the play is there. I play the $10 tables at Full Tilt, and enjoy it.

The reason for the larger bankroll on Stars at the very lowest limit (.01/.02 blinds) is that the maximum buy-in in those games is $5 on Stars rather than $2 everywhere else.

Are you suggesting Party, because there are more tables going or becase the overall skill level is low? Their limit players are outrageosly bad at least.

I would'nt suggest party because the lowest limit isn't that low 0.5/1 and the NL is $25.

I hear stars is good for low limit play, although as far as i'm aware there's no sign up bonus.

If they still have the beginers tables at party then party is fine, just play at those tables. I think they have 5$ and 10$ NL tables.

If you already play a winning game in online limit, it won't take you long to learn how to beat SSNL. It's different but it's not brain surgery.

Pick any site with $10 tables, nut peddle and read these forums until you get comfortable; you'll be crushing them in two weeks. When you hit $500, move to the 25s on Party, it's a very soft game. From there just read fimbulwinter's advice in the "moving up" post linked (I think) in the FAQ.
