I had tryouts today for an 18+ league. There were a bunch of teams already that needed a player or two, and a new team forming. Anyway, I did really well in everything except I only hit 2 of the 5 pitches hard. I decide I'll go home and wait for a call but at the last minute decide to stay and hear which team drafts me. I took off my number at this point and waited. And waited.

And waited.

I am more or less convinced that despite my good showing I didn't make a squad when finally with about 3 players left one of the coaches comes up and asks who I am and says, 'oh, you were the first pick but we didn't see your number and thought you left'.

:variance: because of a trade first pick wasn't the worst team last year, rather they were 3rd place out of 11, so I'm joining a solid team rather than a cellar dweller!
