Default Poker Academy

Has anyone found Poker Academy helpful?

It looks like there is Poker Academy Standard 2.0(~$20) and Poker Academy Pro 2.0 (~$100). What is the difference?

It would be great to get some practice away from the table. I know that the best experience is playing against real people, but I only play live and it is hard to discover holes while you are playing and mentors are hard to come by and expensive.

With Poker Academy Pro and the standard version you can play online against other players. You shouldn't mistake this for playing for play money at the online casinos etc. It's just not the same at all.

When playing online with the Pro version you can view an array of stats on yourself and other players so you can assess styles etc. I think with the standard version it's more limited. But you can check it out at the site.

Most of the players that do well there are either playing for 'real money' or looking to do so. Players that play live in Casinos or at home games like to play there.

They have a series of bots that you can play against. These are especially good for limit I think.

It's a good place to try an opposing style to your own. There is also a good solid community there. In fact players meet up in Vegas and Atalanta.

Try the website and go to the 'Poker Academy Buzz' topic in the forums there are links to write ups from the poker press etc. In fact this link is what Phil Laak said about it in Bluff Magazine:

They do a fully featured demo version of the software so that's got to worth a download and a try!

I own the Pro version of this software.

I'm having a hell of a time getting the demo installed.
It keeps installing Jupiter Club Casino client software instead.

Sounds like you may be getting redirected by some other site. You're installing the demo from here?

If not, you better uninstall AND run antispyware and antivirus.

Yeah, that's where I'm installing from. I think they do have a deal with the casino. Others were confused on the poker academy forums about the casino client software as well. I also virus/spyware scanned.
