Taking shots
Should you ever take a shot at a tournament you are not properly rolled for? What is the most you are willing to go outside of your roll?

Re: Taking shots
Sure, whats important is keeping your average buy in relative. If you have a 50k roll and your ABI is like 150 and you want to play the weekly tilt 1k, its probably not all that harmful.

Re: Taking shots
All depends on comfort level. Generally, don't spend more than 5% of your bankroll on one tournament.
If you are comfortable taking a shot at a $109 on a $3k bankroll, go for it, but be prepared to accept the losses if you do not win anything. |

Re: Taking shots
I took shots all the time by playing satellites to tournaments I'm underrolled for. It helped me learn the game how it's played at higher stakes as well as gain confidence to play at those stakes. Eventually I felt like I belonged there.
You do have to maintain your bankroll by running good in your usual games though. |
