It's because there's no way to answer this question. Personally, I have a fast CPU/HD so I shouldn't need to make new databases often, but I data mine a lot, so that pulls the other way. I have settled into making new observed databases quarterly, and new played databases annually, but that might be overkill for someone else.

When you think that the size of your database is slowing down the function of things like PaHUD. I can't really see any other reason why you would. When that occurs prolly depends on what type of computer you have and whether you have postgres or no.

Like people above said, it depends on how fast your computer, and just what you feel like. A lot of people separate their played and datamined databases (I do as well), and since it's easy for datamined databases to get large very quickly, as well as the data gets old, I make new ones more frequently. But as for played hands, I like to have them all in one place, so I will probably never make a new database unless it slows to such a ridiculous crawl that I can't access anything. I don't really see that happening, though.

[/ QUOTE ] Well, you did not really ask put any work into your question to have someone to want to spend work answering. The question is not that meaningfull. It lacks context. Make a new database with what, for what purpose.Even if we assume things like poker tracker, what rate do you put hand in, do you keep observed hands.
